Fire Bulletin – July 13, 2014 ^NH

The continued presence of numerous out-of-area fire department structure engines should not be cause for alarm.  This contingent was originally dispatched to supplement local fire district resources under a state mobilization as the Mills Canyon Fire was rapidly expanding.  Firefighters have since made significant progress in slowing that expansion and lessening the immediate threat to private property.  The structure protection group is now focusing their attention on assessing additional areas that could be affected if the fire were to resume spreading.  These are strictly precautionary measures at this time and should not be interpreted as an indicator of additional immediate threats.  In the event of a renewed threat, a number of actions will be initiated to notify those directly affected and inform the general public.   Decisions to elevate evacuation levels will be made by the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office and directly communicated (often in person) to the affected residents.  Those changes and other related pertinent information will also be provided to local media outlets and posted to inciweb, org (see web address below), our Facebook page (facebook.com/millscanyonfire) and on twitter (twitter.com/MillsCanyonFire)  and the Chelan County Emergency Management Facebook page for those with internet access.
